The Reggello Culture Festival, known as “Summer Nights,” is an annual event that enlivens the town and its hamlets with a rich program of cultural activities. Organized by the Reggello Municipal Administration, this festival is designed to involve all age groups and cater to a wide range of interests, transforming summer evenings into moments of leisure, learning and entertainment.
A Rich and Varied Playbill – 2024 Edition
The Culture Festival offers a diverse program, including theater performances, concerts, outdoor cinema, children’s workshops, nature activities and literary encounters. Events take place in a variety of locations, from Donnini Urban Park to Villa Pitiana, via the Church of Santa Margherita in Cancelli and the Pieve di San Pietro in Cascia.
Moments of Conviviality
Among the most anticipated initiatives are the Aperilibro, appointments where literature can be discussed in a relaxed atmosphere. On July 17, for example, Donnini Urban Park hosts “The Flower Season: A Little Bohème for Big Dreamers,” a performance with music by Giacomo Puccini performed by the Cupiditas Orchestra, in collaboration with the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
The Festival of Associations
On July 20, Reggello’s historic center comes alive with the Festival of Associations, an opportunity to learn about the area’s associations. The day includes theatrical performances, such as “Stenterello in Pirate Island,” and interactive children’s activities, such as a treasure hunt organized by the St. Agatha’s ORSA Blue ORSA parish group animators. The evening concludes with a DJ set by Reggello Vibes, in collaboration with the Youth Policy Council.
Music and Art
The festival also offers numerous concerts, including “Ville in Musica” with the Orquestra Jovem das Gervais at the Villa Pitiana, and an organ and trombone recital at the Church of Santa Margherita. The week culminates with the Street Food Festival, July 25-28, which brings culinary delicacies and street performances to the square, creating a festive and convivial atmosphere.
Literary Events and Conferences
There is no shortage of cultural events, such as the presentation of the volume “The Medieval Crypts of Tuscany” and the conference “The Kiss” by Alda Giunti, organized in collaboration with the Dante Art Foundation at the White House. These meetings provide an opportunity to explore historical and artistic topics, further enriching the festival program.
A Spectacular Finale
On July 31, the festival closes with a concert by piano duo Daniele Defilinnis and Eric Tornahene as part of the “Valdarno Piano Festival.” Before the grand finale, nature lovers can join guided tours of Reggello’s historic monuments, such as the Pieve di Sant’Agata in Arfoli, to discover the area’s rich cultural heritage.
