On Sunday, April 12, 2026 Vallombrosa will host a special event dedicated to nature, history and the enhancement of the area: theinauguration of the Silvomuseo Paths, a new trail that tells the deep connection between man, forest and knowledge.
The Vallombrosa Silvomuseum is a true open-air museum, where the landscape and forestry practices developed over the centuries by monks become a heritage to be discovered and experienced. The new paths wind through forests and fir forests, offering visitors an immersive experience of nature, culture and memory.
The official opening will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Vallombrosa Abbey, in the Chapter House, with speeches byAbbot Giuseppe Casetta and Prof. Davide Travaglini of the Italian Academy of Forest Sciences.
Following this, participants will be able to take part in a guided tour along the Silvomuseum’s Paths, a walking tour through the fir forests that will provide an up-close look at the area’s forestry history. Return is scheduled in the afternoon, around 4:30 p.m..
The day is part of a larger program that, as early as the morning, offers:
- 10 a.m. the inauguration of the Sant’Ellero-Saltino railway route
- 10:45 a.m. CAI hikes and e-MTB rides
A unique opportunity to discover Vallombrosa through a sustainable and conscious approach, where the walk becomes a tool of knowledge.
To facilitate participation, green travel is provided, with the possibility of arriving by train to Sant’Ellero station and taking advantage of a free shuttle service by reservation .
