The Reggello 2024 Extra Virgin Olive Oil Festival offers a unique experience with the Oil Tour, a series of guided tours that combine the discovery of local traditions, history and culture of the area, accompanied by tastings of freshly produced extra virgin olive oil.
Nov. 1 – The first tour, titled “The Roots … of History, “ will start at 2:30 p.m. with a destination at the impressive Castellano Tower. During the tour, it will be possible to admire the tower, an ancient symbol of medieval power, and continue with a tasting of new oil at Frantoio Pasquini, renowned for the quality of its oil. A free shuttle bus service will operate, departing from the stadium stop, to ensure a comfortable experience for all participants. The tour will end around 5 p.m.
Nov. 2 – The second appointment, “The Roots… of Faith, “ offers an immersion in the spiritual charm of Vallombrosa Abbey, one of the gems of Tuscan heritage. Departure is also set for 2:30 p.m., with a visit to the Abbey’s ancient library and oil tasting in the charming monks’ refectory. Free shuttle bus service will also be available on this occasion, with return scheduled for 5 p.m.
Nov. 3 – The last tour of the program, “The Roots… of Masaccio,” is a journey through art and culture. Starting at 2:30 p.m., the group will be guided to discover the small church of San Giovenale, then to the Fattoria di Mandri, a beautiful Medici villa usually closed to the public, and finally to the Masaccio Museum. Maria Italia Lanzarini, of the Pieve di Cascia Group, will share anecdotes and curiosities about the famous Renaissance painter Masaccio. At the end of the visit, a tasting of bread and new oil will make the experience even more special. Again, the shuttle bus will be available for all participants.
